Fat Supplementation of Human Milk with MCT Oil for Promoting Weight Gain in Preterm Infants

Background: The addition of medium chain triglycerides is preferable as they are more easily digested and quickly absorb in bloodstream than long fat provide ready supply energy by increasing fatty acid bioavailability. Modular products like micro lipids medium-chain triglyceride (MCT) oils now focused a supplementation. rate weight gain with MCT not well known, there very less research done Pakistan. Objective: To determine the effect oil supplemented human milk compared un fed to preterm infants on promoting gain. Study Design: Randomized controlled trial Setting: This study was conducted Department Neonatology, Children Hospital, PIMS, Islamabad, Pakistan from 20th August 2022 February 2023. Methodology: after approval institutional ethical committee. A total 160 fulfilling inclusion criteria enrolled informed consent parents. patients were receiving enteral feeding within neonatology department hospital included randomly assigned Group NF (receiving 20 ml without oil), F 20ml 1 fat). Primary outcomes including growth term at measured 1st ,5th 10th day intake admission. Secondary outcome intolerance, diarrhoea, sepsis necrotising enterocolitis. All data collected form questionnaire. statistical analysis using SPSS version 20.
